Kankariya Zoo of Ahmedabad is very innovative and always comes up with unique ideas. Years ago when I went to the zoo I found that wild animals like hyenas, leopards and jackals always remain tired or sleepy throughout the day. Because they used to wake up at Night and roam around. Considering this behaviour, Nocturnal Zoo Kankariya was introduced.

Zoo authorities launched the night zoo (Nocturnal Zoo). Actually, the concept is that they change day to night and night to day for the animals. Change the feeding pattern and provide artificial lighting to give the feeling of night to the animal. So they remain active during that time.
It’s a kind of glass cage so visitors can easily identify the animal’s activities. They have put a microphone inside the cage so the roar of animals and birds can be heard by visitors. It is kind of a unique experience for visitors to see wild active animals. As of now, they have introduced a few animals to this house but later on, they will add more animals.
The zoo authorities got lots of visitors last year for this particular zoo.

Nocturnal Zoo is located inside the Lake Front of Kankariya near the One Tree Hill Garden and Tunnel of Toy Train. Also, it is located a little far from the main zoo.

No, it’s open until 5 p.m. only. It has created a night environment during the day for nocturnal animals. So the animals can feel the night during the day, and they remain active.

Yes, you have to buy a nocturnal ticket addition. Although, if you have nocturnal zoo ticket you don’t need to buy main zoo ticket if you plan to use same day.
